How is it made?
Some of Sui's signature craft works include Bloom Bowls which
are distinct for their beautiful design but also practical use. The bowls are made from multiple layers of hemp papers with Otchil (Korean lacquers) and then another layer of clay with Otchil making them durable and light. The technique of applying Otchil requires patience and persistence as each step takes several days to dry completely. After this long process, the artist carves out the shape and applies several layers of Otchil again. The final touches apply a gold foil to finish. This eloquent product is the result of a master craftsman technique that takes over 50 to 60 steps to complete.
